The wait is over. The world's biggest Jet Ski only Fishing competition is upon us once again. The date is set and its a three day competition again. This means more fishing, more opportunity to make amends for a bad day on the water or simply to just accumulate lots of points. Mozambique in February is blessed with beautiful weather and with an abundance of gamefish expected in the warm waters off Ponta this all adds up to make for an exciting competition. This event has always been and will continue to be equally fun as it is competitive. The big guns vying for top honours, as well as those just there to have fun and get some good fish it really does cater for everyone. Bring your family or come alone but whatever you do make sure you don't miss out. Entries are open and pouring in. New sponsors have joined the list of current sponsors and we are working hard to make it bigger and better than ever and to increase the already generous list of prizes on offer. We are even giving out prizes before the event, so the earlier people enter the more chances they have of winning. The Prize value last year was well over R250 0 ff the water is brilliant. Great fishing, incredible vibes, and awesome location and a fantastic group of anglers and their families are the recipe for an ideal fishing competition. Last year's first three day format event was a huge success, and we had a brand new winner again in Jaco Klopper. So we are looking forward to having him come back and defend his title. Who knows we may have a repeat winner or once again a brand new winner. The new format certainly opens the field up a bit. The town of Ponta do Ouro opens its arms to everyone during the weekend's festivities. Just half an hour from the border of South Africa to it is the perfect mix of rustic Mozambique and just enough modern perks to keep everyone happy. It really is worth spending a few extra days to take it all in. The event is hosted at the perfect venue-Coco Rico. Perfectly positioned and with ample, top class air conditioned accommodation, friendly staff and the perfect setting for all the festivities. Bookings are open at Coco Rico and will fill up fast so take advantage of the rates on offer and contact the hotel to book your stay. The launch out of the Ponta Bay is very sheltered meaning a relatively easy launch, swell dependent of course. However the bay is nice and big, meaning plenty of room to run and get a good gap. The fishing off Ponta is world class- big tuna, Dorado, Kingfish species galore, huge Couta, Massive Wahoo, and billfish aplenty. The perfect place to catch a personal best or add to your species list. The competition is a catch, photo/video and release event meaning the impact we have is minimal. So get a good camera now. A camera that takes good video is essential because this year's comp we are going to be very specific on seeing the fish released properly The 2018 events dates are the 14th to 17th February with registration taking place at Coco Rico on the 13th. Three of these four days are used for the competiton with the off day used as a rest day or standby in case of bad weather. On the off day we run clinics and have loads of fun. Just ask the guys who joined us for our lazy lunch. We will host a number of clinics as well so it really does make for a memorable trip.
