Merchiston Dads and Lads Fishing comp

A quick comp review

On the 14th of September 2024 Riverton Farm in Richmond was the venue for the Merchiston Preparatory Schools Dads and Lads fishing clubs first annual Dads and Lads Bass fishing competition.. The day dawned bright and early with the first very eager participants arriving at 4h30 am , according to dad the boys had been awake and ready to go since 2am. 120 families totaling 300.rods took part on the day, and six dams were fished. Over 200 fish were caught and returned alive and well to the dams, even though we had a cold snap come through competition was fierce and every prize was hotly contested. The winning fish of 45.5 cm was caught late in the afternoon by team Hancock Sims taking home R3000 rand and lots of goodies Team kemp took the prize for longest total length of fish totaling over 5 meters winning a weekend away at the Umko river lodge and a huge cooler box full of TIZ AQUA products . The day was a resounding success and will become an annual event open to any Dad and Lads. An event like this is only made possible by our very generous sponsors who made it possible for each boy to get an amazing goodie bag and the awesome prizes. A huge thank you to our incredible sponsors and the generous land owners who allowed us to fish their dams. And best of all we were able to introduce new anglers to the amazing sport of fishing, with one first time dad googling how to tie knots on Friday night.
